1 Introduction

Wyrd is a pagan calendar and ritual planner app developed by an independent developer. This Privacy Policy explains what data the App stores, why it stores it, and how it is handled.

The short version: all data stays on your device. Wyrd makes zero network requests, has no server-side component, requires no account, and shares nothing with anyone — including us.

By using the App you agree to the practices described below.

2 Data Stored on Your Device

Wyrd stores the following data locally on your device only, using Android and iOS standard local storage (SharedPreferences). None of this data is transmitted, synced to a cloud, or accessible to us.

Preferences & Settings

  • Selected tradition (e.g. Celtic, Norse)
  • Notification toggle preferences

Personal Content

  • Journal notes per calendar event
  • Custom events you create
  • Custom event image paths

Custom events may include a name, date, theme, lore, practices, colors, herbs, crystals, and an optional image selected from your photo gallery. All of this remains on your device.

What We Do NOT Collect

  • Name or email address
  • Location data
  • Device or advertising IDs
  • Usage analytics
  • Crash reports
  • Contacts or microphone
  • Camera photos
  • Any biometric data

3 Permissions

The App requests access to your photo gallery solely when you choose to attach an image to a custom event you are creating. The selected image path is stored locally on your device. No image is uploaded anywhere.

Notifications

The App requests notification permission to schedule local reminders for upcoming pagan holidays — a 7-day advance reminder and a day-of reminder at 9 AM. These are scheduled and fired entirely on your device:

  • No push notification server is used.
  • No Firebase Cloud Messaging or equivalent service is involved.
  • Notifications are triggered by your device’s local alarm system only.

Exact Alarm Scheduling (Android)

On Android, the App requests permission to schedule exact alarms. This is required to ensure reminders fire at precisely the right time rather than being deferred by the system.

Boot Completed (Android)

The App listens for the device boot event solely to reschedule local notifications after a device restart. No data is collected or transmitted during this process.

4 Network Activity & Third Parties

Wyrd makes zero network requests. The app functions entirely offline and has no dependency on any external server or API.

Fonts

The App uses Cinzel and Lora typefaces, which are bundled locally as TTF asset files. No fonts are fetched over the network at runtime.

Astronomical Calculations

All lunar phase calculations and sun position data (solstices, equinoxes, moon phases) are computed entirely offline using a local math library. No external API is consulted.

The Settings screen contains two links that require an explicit user tap to activate:

  • Privacy Policy link — opens this document in your device’s external browser.
  • Send Feedback link — opens your device’s email client with a pre-filled recipient address. No app data is included or transmitted automatically.

These actions are entirely user-initiated. No data from the App is sent as part of either action.

No Analytics or Advertising

The App contains no analytics SDKs, no crash reporting tools, no telemetry, and no advertisements of any kind.

5 Data Deletion

You are in full control of your data at all times:

  • Custom events and journal notes can be deleted directly within the App.
  • Your tradition selection can be reset from the Settings screen at any time.
  • Uninstalling the App permanently removes all locally stored data from your device.

Since we hold no data on our end, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.

6 Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal data from children. The App contains no harmful content, but its subject matter (pagan traditions, mythology, ritual practices) is intended for a general adult audience.

If you believe a child has entered personal information through the App, please contact us and we will assist where possible.

7 Security

Because all data is stored locally on your device and no data is transmitted over a network, the primary security layer is your device’s own security model (screen lock, device encryption). We recommend keeping your device’s operating system up to date.

We have no access to your device or any data stored within the App.

8 Your Rights

Since we do not collect or store any personal data on our end, there is no data held by us to access, correct, export, or delete. All your data lives on your device and is fully under your control.

If you have questions about data held by platform providers such as Google Play or the Apple App Store, you may exercise your rights directly with them via their respective privacy portals.

9 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the App evolves. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

We will not introduce data collection practices without updating this document and, where required by law, obtaining your consent.
